I am using the following circuit for power oring

POWER ORING.jpg

1. when battery only connected... Voltage supplied by battery

2. when battery is connected and yet 9V supply is connected, the battery gets disconnected and the power source is 9V battery

This is working fine

But when I connect load and say that load draws more current (3A for example)

and I have DC jack (Adaptor) and battery connected, it works fine

But if I disconnect the battery, the adaptor alone is not able to supply enough current

I am using 9V/3amp adaptor

My question is "When both are connected, Is the power still taken from battery, if so why??"

Am I missing something in the circuit that it is behaving like this

The load will start to draw current from the battery if the PMOSFET voltage drop exceeds the substrate diode forward voltage, e.g. 0.7 V.

I was using more current from the battery then it was designed to work and probably thats the issue. Need to check throughly
