Is it better to use GPiO or EIM ports for ASIC IMX6 interfacing to a parallel SRAM?

Hello,

I am interfacing IMX6 to a parallel asynchronous SRAM. I have two options to do that. 1. EIM ports on IMX 2. GPIO.

Which one of these two would be better and which would provide faster speeds. Where would i find their register/ memory mapping details?
