center aligned pwm

What are the advantages or disadvantages of the two method? Where do their usage differ?

edge-aligned

Describe your application and environment.
Generally, edge detection is simpler to
implement in hardware; offsets rely on
much tighter timing controls.

centre aligned pwm

Nowadays 3 ph motor control. But i also want to hear other application areas.

edge aligned

Not sure if
Center-Aligned PWM = Symmetric PWM
Edge-Aligned PWM = Asymmetric PWM

If they're similar, then it has been shown that symmetric PWM signals generate fewer harmonics in the output currents and voltages.
