30-512MHz 4nec2 Discone Design help?

I am trying to build a discone and a bicone antenna using 4nec2 simulating software. I tried to read several different books on the subject, but am still confused. How do you know how many cone and disc elements you need and what sizes they should be? How does the angles and sizes affect the antenna? Thanks in advance
