What is resolution of a dco? please explain
 

"The" resolution? 1/2^N (control bits) times whatever
the tuning range is, more or less.

These used to be called NCO, numerically controlled
oscillator, maybe you will find more references using
that.
 

Basically is what @dick_freebird said, plus the fact that almost all DCO's employ sigma-deltas to lower the frequency's granularity. For more details I would suggest you to take a look at PhD thesis of Professor Robert Bogdan Staszewski.
