what is problem with my problem with smps battery charger

hello everyone .

i need help for making smps 12v 20amp smps for battery charger.
i have pcb of smps using uc3845 and irf460 single mosfet and ee42
transformer . i try but it is not efficient maybe 45% or less. what is the reason of low efficiency .i think the reason of low efficiency is the transformer . can you
calculate the transformer for this smps and give me detail about this
transformer.

I never heard about an "EE42" transformer. Maybe it is a 50Hz transformer that works poorly at the high frequency of your SMPS circuit?

EE42 are two E42 cores combined, if I remember right.

A schematic, SMPS topology, input voltage, working frequency and the core material is the least to know to be able to calculate a transformer...

Hi Klaus ,

the transformer is e type and 42mm hight and 42mm width .
i send photo,
