I am currently developing a test block for a mixed-signal design. The block is suposed to check if two signals differ more than a user-given tolerance. The signals to test are voltages stored in capacitors. The strategy previously adopted for this block was a switched circuit that charged a capacitor with the tolerance, then added one of the signals to test to that capacitor, then a comparator would compare the voltage in that capacitor with the other signal to test. Then, the same thing would be done using the inverse of the tolerance.

I believe that there are better stretegies, but from a literature review about that matter, the only valuable thing that I have found was this papper: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/articleDetails.jsp?arnumber=4253527

I like the strategy better, but I still would like to know if there are better alternatives. Could someone give me any hints?
