s parameter+lna

hi
i am doing LNA for 2.4G wireless lan application.i am struggling to characterise regarding noise figure,s parameters in cadence.can anubody help me to simulate the circuit for those parameters in cadence.i want detailed information.pls post some documents or help manual regarding that.
for s parameter simulation,i took 2 ports.for the i/p port i gave rf sin wave.for the 2nd port what i have to specify..?if dc voltage ...then why..?
i have to match the i/p and o/p impedances to 50 ohms.any suggestions to get exactly those impedances.what is the design methodology to get them....in cadence..?
what about pi matching network....any online material for impedance matching...?
thanking u.

lna simulation cadence

Hey You need SPECTRE RF for that. I do not know whether SPICE can do that with BSIM3v3. I think BSIM4.0 version will suit it. But if you are running in Cadence, you can ask for a SPECTRE RF license. I have done all these things using SPECTRE RF. You can get a manual in your Cadence documentation for SPECTRE RF.

cadence noise figure simulation

hi
we r having cadence licences and that too version 5.0.0.so we have spectre rf simulation facility.the problem is ...as we r in the institute, we r not able to see online documentation .
regarding ....finding out s parameters,we have to specify the ports.let me say s11,for that what port information i have to give for the 2nd port...
pss analysis also seems to be tough.will u pls help in that regard...
thanking u

s parameter simulation cadence

Dear balu,

Firstly scattering parameters are used for measuring the incident and reflected wave coefficients in a two port network. You just have to measure the s-parameters at the input and at the output of your circuit. You can plot those parameters. You can even plot them on the smith chart for impedance matching. I am attaching SPECTRE RF documents with this post. I hope that it helps
