Some type of standard for soldering crimp terminals?

Just as the topic indicates, is there some type of known written standards for soldering crimp terminals? It's always been suggested that soldering a crimped terminal is better than just crimping, it seems common practice, and many companies that sell the terminals recommend soldering them after crimping, but is there a "standard" of some type to teach others from...
 

Crimped connections are better then soldered connections, seems that soldering them as well is excessive. If you find companies that recommend crimping then soldering, just follow their recommendations. I have never seen it done (40 + years in professional electronics).

I have seen many poorly done crimp connections where the wire simply pulls out of the terminal. When the crimp connection is soldered then it is permanent and strong.
 

My company uses thousands of crimped connections every year and if done correctly they are much better than soldering. The soldering after can damage the PVC insulation of the wire and reduce the ability for the outer claps to hold the wire properly. When you solder a wire some of the solder wicks up the wire and forms a solder ledge under the insulation. In high vibration environments this can cause the wire to cut itself away under the insulation causing a break in the wire. If it's a very large wire then you will probably get away with it but on small crimped wires I think your asking for trouble over time.
