I one where to write a simulation based on evolutionary principles (reproduction, mutation, selection etc) that would consist of agents living in a 2d (grid) world, what programming language/environment would you suggest?

I'm fimiliar with C but mostly with C# and java (and a lot of unrelevant languages), but I'm wiling to learn a new one if needed.

I am most certainly, I however plan on making a way more sphisticated simulation and was wondering if you had any suggestions (that might make the programming of such a simulation easier).
