Handbook of connectors used in electrical circuits boards and devices

There are a throngs of types of connectors used in electrical circuits. Is there a handbook of connectors that covers them all e.g X is used for such and such audio applications, Y is used in industrial applications for such and such interface, Z is used when conneting boards together, P is used when connecting devices together.

By connectors I mean the whole physical medium, this includes the connector on the circuit board and also the wire used. Why do I need it? Well I am just curious to know what people use in various applications.
