I want to use the DRV8312 motor driver IC by TI for driving a BLDC motor. The motor has encoders attached so I can use proper controls by a uc.
The datasheet says that if I use the motor driver without hall sensors, I need an inductor at the power stage output. Can anyone tell me how to make the circuit and use the motor driver properly.
Thanks

Hi,

The datasheet says that if I use the motor driver without hall sensors, I need an inductor at the power stage output.

i can´t find this information in datasheet.

I currently work with BLDC with and without hall sensors, but afaik the inductor is not related to hall sensors.

For overcurrent protection you can use external inductor.

To calculate the inductance you can see in datasheet:

Where Toc_delay = 250 nS, Ipeak = 15 A (below abs max rating).
