What is the hold time ,attack time and release time of AGC?

help on AGC!

What is the hold time ,attack time and release time of AGC?
and how is there relation with gain especially with hold time/attact time.
In wolfson specs,hold time /attack time is for gain ramp up.
But it seems too strange for that word with their waveform in the specs.

For audio applications:
attack time 1 to 5 msec
hold time 0.2 to 1.0 sec
release time 1 to 2sec

and the relationship with noise gate and hold time?/Do they have relationship or not?

Hi IanP,
Would you tell me what will happen if the timing is much shorter than typical
value.
For example,
attack time 5uS
hold time 10uS
release time 10uS
