I have done av_extracted before for post layout simulations but recently i heard of ba netlist which also I believe will give the same information regarding RC parasitics. What's the difference between them?

Thanks

The back annotation netlist is the equivalent counterpart of the extracted layout (av_extracted), extracted from it by the netlister, necessary for the post-layout simulation, because the simulator needs a textual description of the connectivity, not a layout.

Hi erikl,

I have done post layout simulation just by including av_extracted view (in place of schematic of a symbol) before. So is it same as using ba?

Thanks a lot :)

Yes. When you include the av_extracted view, before simulation first the ba netlist is created - possibly transparent for you. You could check your simulation directory for creation time of the (new) ba netlist.
