Electronic Countdown Timer Circuit

Hi,

I'm am attempting to make a 10 second countdown timer circuit using a 7-Segment Dual Digit Display. I would, ideally, like it to countdown from 10 to 0; wait for about another 10 seconds and then restart.

Do you have any idea as to which chip(s) I should use?
I would gladly appreciate a circuit diagram as well, if possible.

Hi,

There are loads of such timers, just search this forum and the web to find a suitable one.

Most will be micro based so that mean getting a programmer as well.

Depends if you intend to become involved in micros or is it more a one off project ?

Probably the simplest and cheapest way is to use an Arduino Uno board that can be programmed directly and has loads of programs ready made.
Just search on "arduino 7 segment countdown timer"
 

Thanks for the response. It is for a GCSE project. I'll try and see if I'm permitted to use an Arduino. Thanks again for the help!
