I wonder if we can build a 1-way digital audio link using 555; one as a frequency modulator (transmitter) using pin 5 and a similar one used as VCO in a PLL circuit (receiver).
The advantage of such a link is its better rejection of the channel noise than transmitting the audio analog signal as it is.

Sorry, I forgot that PLL design is not an elementary project.
