What is the best school for Microwave Engineering in the USA ?

UMass-Amherst ? (Pozar school)

UCLA is absolutely No.1 in this field.

how about east coast ?

not UMASS ? I see a lot of papers from them.

Berkeley ? Stanford ?

No Microwaves in San Francisco area ? :p

UMass is aboslute strong in this field. Pozar, Schaubert, Jackson and Yngvesson are gurus in antenna, wicrowave and RFIC research. Check out the research fellows in Infineon and RFMD. Lots of them are UMass Alumni.

Tom Lee of Stanford

syracuse university has good microwave courses too

hi,

I don't think there is one univ in general -
each one is good in different areas of research in mw eng.
Umich is also pretty good - and Georgia Tech has many areas of research!
my 2 points...

My top ten IMHO, grouped by NCAA football conference, and based on quality of undergraduate students and graduate level publications:

Div. I-A:
Big1T1en:
Michigan
Ohio State
Penn State

Pac 10:
UCLA

ACC:
Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech

Big 12:
Texas

SEC:
Mississippi

Div. I-AA:
Atlantic 10:
UMass

Other piddling non-football-playing schools:
MIT

i am an electrical eng. from iraq do u know how much it will coast me if
i whant to study microwave and communication in US ?
regards

For graduate school, tutition will cost you about 22,000+ a year if you go to any of the schools mentioned on this board unless you can obtain a fellowship. In addition, living expenses (rent, food, books, etc...) will cost you around 700~1000 a month depending on where you live in the US.

If you wanna be able to get your papers published quickly and get the degree, UCLA is definitely THE place. After all, that's the bottomline.
