arduino uno homemade

please help me to get an adruino uno circuitory by using usb to serial converter cable ..and a boot loader circuitry.
i have atmega8 but no programmer.Please Help.

I used the circuitry in "AVR In-Circuit Serial Programmer" .
But i cant erase or program . I'm using direct serial port,,ponyprog2000..
Is there any troubleshooting options? I need some advice ..!
One more thing ,when i ignore programming ..it starts programming .. verifying..and ends with failure message.
 

I use both the Atmel JTAGICE or AVRisp for my AVR programming requires, therefore I have no experience with any of the DIY AVR programmers.

I would recommend searching the forum for threads in reference to the ponyprog or starting a new thread concerning this topic.

I'm quite sure there are numerous members who can assist you with those issues.
