I want to measure threshold voltage of a power mosfet, and while searching texts..I came to know that we measure Vth by:
  • we connect gate to drain
  • and then we pass 250uA through drain to source.

please see Vth on page no 2 on this link.....
http://www.aosmd.com/res/application_notes/mosfets/Power_MOSFET_Basics.pdf

I want to ask that why we use specifically 250uA, whats the theory behind it ??

as i have also checked datasheets, there also they have used the same thing....please refer page 2, (testing conditions of mosfet, for Vth)
http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/stmicroelectronics/9387.pdf

Please help....

not really high funda and all pal it is just we use a small Vds voltage and then we increase the Vgs till it turns on the MOS to active region

just set a Vds and then increase the Vgs till there is a huge change in Ids current

tabulate and plot in graph

draw delta graph and the voltage at which the rise of current is maximum is the threshold voltage
