Hi,
i was trying out various methods to design a good 10 w smps.i did try some tny and viper series. But the transformer design seems to bother me.Then i found the common PC SMPS in which they generate 5V standby without any switching controller.i liked it because it uses only few discrete components.can someone please tell help me understand the operation of circuit or tell me what kind of topology this is?
from what i understand it uses a simple on of control method.opto pulls down the fets gate drive when sufficient voltage is generated in secondary.
since there is no pwm i believe large number of commercially available transformers can be used with it.
please help me understand the design details
