I am trying to use a dxf file as a board outline using Layout 9.0. I imported the dxf file into VCADD and translated it into a max file. Is there any way to merge an existing pcb layout with components using this board outline?

Re: Orcad Layout 9.0 dxf file

Yes you can!

1. Open the layout design files.
2. Set the insertion point (Tool-Dimension-Move Datum).
3. Go to "Files" menu and select "Load".
4. In the "Files of type" box select "Merge board (MAX).
5. Click "Open"

Re: Orcad Layout 9.0 dxf file

In Layout 9.0, there is no MAX file option. Can I construct a board as a "pie-cut"? That is, rather than have a full circle, use an arc with end points.

Yes, you can construct a board outline of your choice using the .dxf import option. However, merging an existing pcb is still a question?
