Hi,

I'm developing a minimum area multirate FIR filter and was wondering , which representation (fixed or floating point) would be more convenient for my design, and why. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Minimum area FIR filter design means you got to go for fixed point representation because floating point representation requires additional hardware in designing.

If precision and accuracy is significant go for fixed point representation.

All the best.

Fixed point representation is always convenient in designing.

Thank you for the reply. Now I can mention why I went for the fixed point representation in my thesis.
