Hi all,

I'll been looking for a microwave (>10GHz) phase detector. The only ICs that came across is something called a "sampling phase detector". From looking at the datasheets of those ICs, it seems like the sampling phase detector is measuring the frequency difference between two input signals (what a frequency detector should do). Please let me know what is a Sampling Phase Detector. Is it just another name for frequency detector?

Thanks,

I think you are referring to sub-sampling phase detector. It basically uses a sub-harmonic frequency as input to the phase detector.
