Help needed JTAG detect unknown device

Complete newbie here.

I have a display board that drives an OLED. The processor on the board is unknown; identification scratched off by mfg and the OLED mfg is unknown.
I noticed the board does have 6 JTAG pins and was hoping I could get a recommendation or suggestion as to what GNU JTAG software (for dummies)
and cable I could use to 'detect' the chips on board. Objective is to simply flip or invert the OLED display. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated:
