    Re: Tools to draw schematic

OrCAD is very popular. Most other programs can import files made by it.

    Re: Tools to draw schematic

Use Eagle, there's a freeware edition.
For professional use i recommend Protel DXP.

    With the best regards, Halabat.

    Re: Tools to draw schematic

    eagle is easy to use,
    orcad too
maybe the best and proffesional is protel.

eagle is only ca 15Mb installation and have free student license, limited by pcb size and numbers of el. components

    Re: Tools to draw schematic

It depends on your platform,OS and your purpose.
For IC design, Cadence composer,ECS,Orcad etc.

    Re: Tools to draw schematic

-Eagle is easy to learn can be used in professional centers but have some lack of features for complicated designs. For example You can not use signal arrows .You need to connect every line to each pin and this makes schematic seem to be non-esthetic and hard to observe
-I know Orcad is popular but never worked wit it
-Protel is BEST one , however it really needs more time to learn it. It is hard to design a PCB in one day with it before you know it.Professions mostly use protel.

I was using Eagle it was easy however as time passes and I produce new complicated projects I thought that Eagle does not meet my requirements now I am working and (still learning indeed)Protel. It is awesome.

But do not quit easly , when I first install Protel few years ago , after 1 hour later I uninstalled it since it seemed very complicated....

And a last word: Always , learn to create your own lib.

    Re: Tools to draw schematic

    Hi all
I have been use orcard 9.X, Protel and Eagle.
    - Protel is best, but is's clipboard is not the same flatform windows and so that schematic which is drawn by Protel is not cut into Word, Exel, Paint... of Microsoft and to differ for your report.
    - Orcad is heavily for installed. It is not best for low speed computer.
    - Eagle is small for installing. But Line or track which are drawn by Eagle is not fine arts.

    Re: Tools to draw schematic

If you want to draw a schematic looking as in books or magazines use CircuitMaker.

Visio is good for drawing schematics intended to be used for documents only (not for simulation). I don't like the stencils installed with viso, so I create my own stencils for commonly used devices.
