Urgent - VLSI project help please !

I am a B.E Final year student. I am planning to do a real time project in VLSI.

Is System on chip or network on chip a good idea ??

Virtex- 5 FPGA kit is available in our college. Can you please suggest me some ideas ??
 

you can do lot of things as a project-

If it is vertex and you know ISE or micro-blaze you can have -

1) Micro-blaze processor to have many application like EPROM programmer to Network communcation from Vertex with IP's from Micro-Blaze.
2) You can have video In and Out with Vertex chip with Contrast / bightness control and even much more..

Can you help me with any IEEE papers ? Because my college wants only IEEE papers to be implemented :|
 

You can search on your own IEEE website.


But I suggest you to select paper which has already implemented the design on FPGA and tested.
 
I have selected "Building a RTOS for SoC Dataflow Programming" Any comments ?
