Wide band frequency synthesizer

I recently aquired an HP yig oscillator 3.0 - 6.0 GHz and would like to build a synthesized RF source as a hobby project. Preffered step frequency would be 1 KHz.

What would be the best way to build this synthesizer with easily available components.

If it is just for fun you could use a single loop PLL which would have tremendous phase noise because of the large divide ratio. Hittite IC company makes some lower cost dividers.
 

I might be help you. you could be use the ic of PLL.
