Dear All

I wanted to know if there are any technical or performance issues if we use a power device which is rated for high current (e.g. IRF540 Power Mosfet 100V Vdss @ 33A Id) for a very low voltage and current application (e.g. 12V and 200mA).

regards

As long as you can drive the gate, and don't mind paying
extra for performance you don't use, it'll be fine.

So I guess there is no technical issue with using a over-rated device for low rated application whether its a BJT, MOSFET or IGBT.
