User “gregrzesiek” shows how to control access to a server room with a smart card. Such a way of preventing unauthorized persons from entering a server room is much more effective than using key locks.
An authorization check is carried out via used phone cards, their biggest advantage is their availability and low price.

The heart of the authorization device is the AT89C2051 microcontroller. The program was written in C language and compiled by SDCC.
The lock communicates through a serial port with one of the servers, which keep the log of all entries and decides who should be let in. While there is no mains power supply, the device is powered by a UPS. If the UPS goes flat, the door can be opened with the key.
