What is the difference betwen Inductor and ferrite ?

Hi,

Let me know the diffrence betwen Inductor and ferrite

Characteristics

Inductor: L=...mH
Ferrite: Rated Current=....A

An inductor is the electrical device that provides inductance.

Ferrite is a an iron oxide ceramic material with high magnetic permeability and high electrical resistance, commonly used as the core material of power inductors and transformers.

It seems that concern is PCB board design not a PSM core!

Hi.

There are three magnetization types; paramagetism, diamagnetization, and ferromagnetism. The ferrite belongs to the ferromagnetism type, which is cased by the alignment of grain domains. Thus, the frequency characteristics is not good. The magnetic permeability of the ferrite is more than 100. The magnetic flux density B is related with the magnetic field H by the following equation:

B = mu x H

where mu is the permeability.

Hi,
Inductor its a device that have a coil (conducting the current) and a "magnetizable" core; depending on the material of the core you can achive diferents magnetic permeability's producing diferents inductances. Ferrite its one of the manys diferent cores.....

Simply,
A ferrite is an impedance whose resistive component increases with frequency and whose zero frequency resistance is very low. The impedance is not linear with frequency. You may check Murata website on this.

An inductor impedance increases with frequency, how is that different?
