I too exploited by the problem. Actually it was a trojan. I installed the nor ton anti wirus and it quarantined all the infected files.

This trojan started applications like EXPLORE.EXE(normal windows part is EXPLORER )exploreer.exe,time.exe,win32.exe.......etc.

So try to scan with the Antiwirus softwares. They can solve your problem.

and download the program then monitor the registry to see "who" is changing the start page for you and then kill it and remove it,
anti-virus and adaware are also recomended.
i got one of those little bastards sometime ago by doing this:
monitor the registry with regmon in the filter set include to "setvalue"
and highlight to "internet" and then see wich process is writting to the registry and changing your start page.
look for time patterns the one i killed was changing my start page every 10 minutes so by waiting 10 minutes doing nothing just looking to the monitor and waiting for something to happen i caught and eradicated from my computer the uninvited program, then run adaware to clean the rest of the trash left beind

still one problem i found is that
if i rename the removal tool back it get deleted

the tool name is CWShredder.exe
i had renamed to CWShredde.exe and made it executed.
but if i rename back to its orginal name it is get deleted.

is there still some thing missing .

how should i over come this.

I have the same problems.
I stop the CoolWebSearch process, then run cwshredder. OK, it is removed.

One of the best SPYWARE & TROJAN removers is Spybot search & destroy.
You can get it here for free

Except this I use AdAware, ISpy Killer (running in tray), Norton Antivirus 2004 and Agnitum Outpost Firewall (+ all Win updates of course).
I've never had a security problem.
