why in dft we do structural testing rather than functional testing whereas functional testing will give accurate result?

Design for testability is meant for detecting manufacturing defects. It is basically to improve controllability and observability of a design. Functionality of a design can be checked in verification.

Functional testing you can figure out by Functional Failure.
