    Re: Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    Hi,

    In the compagny where I am working, people use VC++ to write applications from scratch and use Borland to write applications including graphical functionalities.

    All these people say that neither VC++ nor Borland is better. It depends on the need they have.

    Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    As I know, VC++ generate more optimized code and works more correctly (especially in real-time programming), but Builder have the better service and more useful for GUI programming.

    Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    I am a Borland Builder fan. I think it is much more productive and easier to use than MS. What takes a day in MS can be done in an hour in Builder.
    It also more closely complies with the standard for C++. Microsoft has poor support for templates and partial template specialization.

    Re: Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    C++ Builder (not X) uses VCL-Classes (esp. for GUI).

    Using VCL is very easy but has not got features like MFC or .NET offer.

    There is no big difference for WIN-API or MFC-Programming between C++Builder and VC++.

    VC++ Compilers are a bit faster than Borlands but with C++Builder X you can use Intel Compilers(the fastest of all).

    Builder X does not support VCL (no RAD).

    Re: Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    to reply this question, we must know what you want to do?

    do you wanna write database apps or device drivers? two extreme point.

    main point, if you want more detailed things, VC++ is better. 'more detailed' also means 'more harder'.

    i like vc++ because i can find almost everything related vc++ (sample, code, lib etc) using the internet.

    Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    if you design a GUI application, builder is ideal choice, for it contain a large number of useful component, and it is convenient to use.

    if you design a rock-bottom application, you can choose VC++, for it is much closer to hardware segment.

    Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    I prefer to VC++, for operating system belongs to microsoft.
    operating system provide it much more interface than bulider.
    and with the development of system, it must be more stable and powerful.

    I think RAD is not planned for new BCB versions...

    Delphi and c#builder are the only ones supportig RAD(don't know about Borlands JAVA Techniques...)

    Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    VC++. Mainly because you could obtain the latest version free from Microsoft website. I'm not sure if Borland provides thier latest compiler, but I think they do provide some version back.

    Re: Microsoft VC++ or Borland C++ builder ? Which one?why?

    If you want to develop a real application which should compatible with previous versions and OS (windows), you have to select VC++.
    If you want to write codes in a professional way and use all utilities of OS, choose VC++.
    If you worked on windows programming professionally, you can select VC++.
    If you want to write Visual codes based on C++ but you are not good at windows programming concepts, you can choose Borland C++ (Borland Builder).
    If you want to develop a GUI program in the quickest way, select Borland C++.
    If you don't worry about OS problems, i strongly recommend you to use Borland C++.

    Regards,
    KH
