hi...

how to calculate the mutual inductance between two coils, when they are placed at some fixed distance???

plz give me some guidance...

Thanx in advance...

To calculate the mutual inductance between two coils is not an easy task and it involves tha calculation on bessel integrals. Many article have been written especially in the past treating mainly the case in which the two coils are coaxial. For general case you can read the papers of Frederick Grover, f.i. "The Calculation of the Mutual Inductance of Circular Filaments in Any Desired Positions".
If you are instead interested in simulation you can use the freeware fast field solver at the site Fast Field Solvers

Another approach to answer your question is through simulation. If you set this problem up in HFSS using port excitations, HFSS will return S, Y, and Z matrices. Using the Y matrix, you can then apply the transformation: L = -1/(2*pi*Freq*Im(Y(1,2))) and this will return the cross coupling inductance from the admittance matrix. The diagonal elements of the Y matrix return self admittances while the cross terms return coupling admittances.

Have Fun :)
