set top box ????

I start to make set top box based on xilinx fpgas and mcu.

I will use mitsubishi m16 or h8 mcu.

There was ideas.

Does anybody know where is better to start or is it there something similar on the net, like cores for video, audio,.......

tanks

Hello URGA,

Do you mean Digital TV set top box (DVB-S, DVB-C, 8VSB) or Internet TV set top box (WebTV)?

If you want to design a Digital TV set top box, I think that you should find
a design reference (like the one for ST55xx).

Bye

I want to try this.

Make periferial cores - video, audio, memory controller, io ports in verilog on my Xilinx board with some compatible bus OK

So after I can experiment to attach different cpus on this periferial frame.
H8, m16,ppc, 68000 etc......... or another xilinx with cpu core

OK til now we have 2 little boards.

I want to try because idea is to have highly reconfigurable computer
i.e I can change memory map and cpu in verilog, so in software.

Yeah, but it's always difficult to start, but if you have some example of
diy game system or settopbox etc.......
