Just saw an announcement for the latest and greatest LPC1800 device as it will be sampled to key customers during Q4/2010 by NXP. The LPC1800 is manufactured in a very advanced 90 nm flash process that enables integration of 1 MB flash together with 200 kB of SRAM in a monolithic die. It offers two USB2.0 HS interfaces, a 10/100 Ethernet and much more.

1Mb flash + 200Kb sram.

that's just insane. in a good way.

just looked at the preliminary DS and there seems to be a 200k SRAM version which has no Flash and a version with 136K SRAM that has 1 MB of Flash. Not sure but it looks as if the SRAM is banked. That would make it less usable for large buffers. Let's see how it works out. One thing is for sure that's just another step in the direction of integrating more and more functions. 90 nm allows double the transistors on the same area than 130 nm which is the process for the LPC1700. That means the LPC1800 is probably similar die size as the LPC1700 but in a more expensive process. Over time though, the price for the process will come down a lot and cost for he LPC1800 with it.

SRAM is banked.

if it uses the same ARM core, that would be odd as the arm core has a linear addressing space.
