How to add a 4 bit data and a single bit data in VHDL coding?

and operation

mostly anding operation will be bit by bit only.
4 bit data will be AND with a 4 bit no only.
u can concatenate like this "000" & '1' to change single bit to 4 bit

Just do the and operation, your VHDL tool will extend the single bit. You need to revise your tool manual for the extension. It differs according to the data type.
