How does SAR register function in SAR ADC?

Hello,

I have a problem with SAR ADC. i don't understand actual working of SAR register and how SAR regisrer design.. for SAR ADC, what we have to apply as a input to shift register. one input is our clock signal and one is either our sampled output of S/H ckt. or our actual analog input.. and any one have idea on which type of ADC is better for Ultra-wide band application and why?

now i do project on 3 bit flash adc layoout design.... first i wish to complete comparator design... wat i do? and i wan to know what are types of cmos comparator is available?

what's your bandwidth? How much resolution you need?
SAR is suitable for middle speed and middle sample rate. e.g 10 ~ 14 bit, several Mega Hz
