what is ppm ?

some day , in a book I saw "the clock is +/- 100 ppm ", and I don't know what is "ppm". some one help , 3x (thanks )!

Re: what is ppm ?

Hi,
The clock stability is usually specified the drift that me be observed in the frequency. PPM indicates the stability and hence cost.
+- 100ppm in a 1 MHz clock indicates the frequency may be between 999000 to 1000100 Hz at any given time the clock is powered. This may be either temperature or aging specification.
