Hi guys...

I want to ask about how to make manual clock in spartan 3E starter kit...can we use slide switch as a manual clock?? ask example, i want to use it's clock to simulate 4 bit shift register..

i need a manual clock, because data input is a serial data..so,it is impossible to use internal clock (50MHz) cause I insert the serial data input manually..

thanks...

Instead use the push buttons and have the register latch data when its pulsed. I think there are 4 such buttons on the Spartan 3E board. Basically, you can make your trigger condition whatever you want it to be, not just the on-board clk.

Don't forget to debounce/deglitch. Manual switches and pushbuttons are noisy.
