load cell interfacing

Hello all,

I am very new to this game. The only thing i have done with microcontrollers is turn on an led with a push button. I am wanting to interface a load cell with my PIC16. I want it to capture five peak voltages (five peak weights) and add them together. Then i want it to capture five more peak voltages and find the difference between the first batch and the second batch. Please help me. I have no clue what i am doing. I know about load cells and the pic. however i have no idea if this is even possible or if this will work. I had one guy tell me that it was pointless. This load cell will be weighing 20k lbs.
