How to synchronize midi data with midi events ?

Hi,

i want to develop a midi device with some buttons and faders. i'm not shure about, how to synchronize the data from the device with the midi events in the sequenzer which runs at the pc.
does someone has any experience with this topic?

Hi,

i would like to control play/stop and volume of a certain channel.
at the moment i use a atmel mega128 convert der analog signal of the fader and send it over the rs232 to the pc. my problem is: which time intervall i should use to transfer the fader and button information to the pc.
any ideas?
