hello
plz i need to clearify something for me

iam doing circuit, inside there is a 400uh choke coil.
i wanna to know what is choke coil, is it different from normal coil,
here i find toroidal ferrite coil with same value ,that was desoldered from old electronic equipment, such tv's, power amp, etc, ect, will this work?

the choke coil that used in the circuit is like this

Re: coil and inductance

A choke is just a normal coil. The name choke comes from it's purpose in the circuit which is to 'choke' (as in having your throat squeezed!) RF signals over a wider frequency range than a resonant circuit would.

You should be able to replace it with a coil of the same or similar inductance. The only caveat is that the new coil should not be self-resonant at a frequency that would influence the rest of your circuit.
