Batery charger problem.

I built this automatic battery charger circuit **broken link removed**

But it is not working properly. When the battery voltage reaches any of the threshold value, relay start chattering heavily. I tried to put 0.1uF capacitor between base of transistor and ground but it did no help. Can anyone please suggest me a work around for this?

Re: Batery charger problem.

Make sure you have the NO contact wired as in the circuit. This provides +ve feedback by shorting out VR1 the moment the relay switches to stop the charging cycle. Shorting out VR1 turns the transistor on more to prevent chattering.

Re: Batery charger problem.

I have checked it and it is wired correctly. Relay is still chattering. :(

Re: Batery charger problem.

Pls check your relay , did you use 12 volts relay ?

Re: Batery charger problem.

Yes I am using 12V relay.

Re: Batery charger problem.

Try to install electrolytic capacitor across relay ( D1 diode ) say with a value of 4.7 to 10 microfarad or try to use another relay as well.
