power consumption of diodes

Hello All,

Do you know what is the formula of the power consumed by TVS diode?
For Uni-directional? an dBi-directional?

Thanks,

Hello,

Or just the cumpute peak power of the TVS diode.
Here are the characteristics:

Ipp=12A
Vclamp= 49.9V
and
Vbreakdown = 36V

Regards

What's your question exactly? The consumed power depends mainly on the source characteristics.

The peak power specification tells, if a particular voltage surge can be handled by a TVS device without damage.
It's determined by the pulse energy and the device's thermal capacity. For long pulses and DC load, the permissible power
is determined by the juntion-to-ambience thermal resistance, very similar to a zener diode.
