how to avoid stray capacitance

I have recently encountered a problem where (apparently) stray capacitance has coupled a few adjacent port pins serving as interrupt pins to a keypad which generated interrupts on all of them (solved by cleaning).

This brought to my attention the issue of how long lead wires to say keypads and LCD displays may attract capacitance and cause erratic behavior.

So, what is the correct way of designing a circuit to eliminate these?

Thanks

keypad wires

HI

The answer is design dependent - probably no more the 1 meter of wire but it depend on the driver (I/O port ability to drive current)

All the best
