FM Demodulation steps

What are the basic steps to demodulate FM (general and usnig FPGA)
Plz illustrate steps as much possible as I will do it first time!!

Thanks in adv.

FM Demodulation steps

understanding phase discrimator or foster seely circuit working make you to develop the steps

Re: FM Demodulation steps

Best way is to get a pair of quadrature signals and then solve for:

X = I*(dQ/dt) - Q*(dI/dt)

This is the same as the more fundamental arctan(I/Q) differentiated. Either use some math to solve the equation, or use an arctan lookup table.
