design compiler is not enabled

Hi Everyone...
I have installed Redhat Linux Enterprise 5 on my machine... When I tried to install Synopsys Design Compiler version vX-2005.09-SP4 using synopsys installer.. At the end I have got an error as below...

DO_INSTALL /usr/synopsys/admin/install/syn/bin/install_psyn -r /usr/synopsys -plat " linux"
ERROR : Failed to execute /usr/synopsys/admin/install/syn/bin/install_psyn
ERROR :
Installing Physical Compiler ...
Setting up environment for Astro/Milkyway ...

The PC installation is not complete without Milkyway.
Please ensure that Milkyway is already installed or install it now.
Milkyway installation is a separate step, please see the installation guide for details.
Once Milkyway is installed please run the script /usr/synopsys/admin/install/syn/bin/setup_astro_env

When I tried to run the dc_shell from the the shell prompt I got the erroe message as below...

Fatal: Design Compiler is not enabled. (DCSH-1)

I'm in urgent need of Design Compiler.... Can you give me a solution to rectify this problem????

fatal: design compiler is not enabled. (dcsh-1)

as the error message says you need to install Milkyway.
once it is installed you need to rum the install script located at usr/synopsys/admin/install/syn/bin/setup_astro_env.

fatal design compiler is not enabled. dcsh-1

Hello hock...
Thanks for replying...

Ya, the error message says it clearly... Does milkyway comes along with the package itself or is it a separate software or something like that.. What actually is this milkyway??? Where do I get it???

synopsys design compiler

milkeyway is the database manager tool from synopsys. usually it is part of your installation media, in your case DC AND ICC. i am sure it is present in IC Compiler

synopsys milkyway design compiler

I'm trying to install only Design compiler... Do you think that its not compatible with RHEL 2005? Because one of my friend told me to install CentOS...

fatal: design compiler is not enabled.

i am using DC on RHEL 5 and it is working fine.

try installing on some other machine.

fatal: design compiler is not enabled

same happened to me when i run dc_shell
this error was solved when i defined SNPSLM_LICENSE_FILE

i dont think you got any errors due to milkyway, because i have not installed milkway for dc

error : installing physical compiler

pc, or physical compiler needs milkyway.
DC_SHELL does not need pc to run.

dc_shell is not enabled is a license issue, you need to set your
license environment LM_LICENSE_FILE to point to the server
that hosts your licenses.

design compiler is not enabled.

I was working on my dc_shell-t and I suddenly encountered an error .. I then shut down the DC, then re-invoked it from the begining .. It gave me the same mentioned error message:

Fatal: Design Compiler is not enabled. (DCSH-1)

I tried to open a new shell and re-invoke DC from it .. still, I'm having the same problem ..

I restarted the whole machine .. still, I'm receiving the same error ..

I opened the license log file and I found this :
Failed to open the TCP port number in the license.

How to solve this ?

design compiler install

Omara007,
It means the TCP port mentioned in your license file is already occupied.
Either change it or kill the lmgrd running on that port and start again.

During running lmgrd, check properly, it should not flash any error there itself.
