CADENCE on UBUNTU 8.10: help me please

Hi,
I'm trying to install cadence release 5141 on ubuntu 8.10;
but i find the following error:
"Executing control programs (pre-load) ...
load_pkgs: 696: ./install/pkgs/dfIIdb50.41-p003lnx86.exe: not found".
Even if I have verified the file is present in that path.

Can anyone help me?

Check the permissions on the file ... Who all can access it etc... I believe you are installing the software as a normal user ... Check whether normal user has required permissions to access that file...

I have tried to do some changes,
but now I have the following errors instead of the previous one:

Running softload I have:
"Generating detailed installation data...

Determining available disk space
sort: open failed: +2: No such file or directory
Determining required disk space

Disk checks successful"

and few later...

"Updating package installation information.......

Checking data files...

and then it gave me an error

Executing control programs (pre-load) ...
sort: open failed: +3: No such file or directory
expr: syntac error

SL-8: No information available on.."

This is due to changes in some of the unix commandline tools.

On the commandline, simply type the following:

export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209

And then try running the installation again, ensuring you run it from the same commandline as you just typed the above command in

hello , my friend . I met with the same problem when installing Cadence ic5414 ,so ,hope you can help me.
i have done the following steps: 1. use root to create a new user and password:
adduser lgang
passwd lgang
2.create a new folder to install ,the folder is '/tools/cds5'
mkdir /tools/cds5
chmod 755 /tools/cds5
3.chown lgang /tools/cds5
4. and use lgang to install
su lgang
./SETUP.SH

but it always displays some problems as follows:

Checking data files...

Executing control programs (pre-load) ...
load_pkgs: 696: ./install/pkgs/dfIIdb50.41-p003lnx86.exe: not found

SL-10:Installation of dfIIdb50.41-p003lnx86 declined by control program (PRE_LOAD)
dfIIdb50.41-p003lnx86 will not be installedload_pkgs: 696: ./install/pkgs/dfIIdb50.41-p003lnx86.exe: not found ......etc

even i have tried the user root to install, the problem still there.
Am using ubuntu OS,

Can u tell me how to solve it , how can i install IC5414?
