mcc pic18

Hi guys,
I am new in pic micros and I want to know who is the best C compiler for PIC18? IAR, HTPICC18 or MCC18?

Best regards

pic18 mcc

Personally, I like the "PIC-C Compiler with Windows IDE (PCWH)" from

**broken link removed**

It is self-contained and supports (I think) all 18 and most other 12 and 16 PIC's.

They did have a few bug problems compiling code for the 18's, but these seem to have been sorted out in the latest versions.

Cheers,
FoxyRick

Hi,

I use CCS C Compiler.
I recommend it.

Bye

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

i recommend iar picc18 complier or CCS C complier

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

i would definately go with CCS. it is inexpensive and an excellent compiler for the pic family. MPLAB C17 is also a nice compiler but expensive.

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

I think ccs compiler is Best .

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

CCS compiler is easy to use, but very buggy!

:D
Best Regards.

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

My vote is for hi-tech PICC bug free compiler :D

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

Well, if you need to use an RTOS for your application, I would sugest you Hitec PICC18. If not, or if you are short on time, go with no doubt for CCS.
Regards

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

If you want or need a full Ansi copatible compiler (which is very important for code reuseability) go with Hi-Tech.

best regards

Pic18 compiler choice

On larger projects i ran to many bugs with HI-TECH,
and turned back to MCC-18, it's buggy too, but while
I spent long nights debugging HT's code in MCC it's
easier to workaround the bugs.
And it wasn't a big deal to turn the sources to MCC.

good luck,
Zed

Re: Pic18 compiler choice

Re: Pic18 compiler choice
